Historic Blauvelt House auction coming up

Bidding starts at $275,000 for a piece of national history -- the elegant Blauvelt House in Harrington Park -- on Dec. 3. Interested bidders can attend an open house this Saturday at the historic residence at 622 Lafayette Road.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Blauvelt house has been updated for 21st Century living after a recent remodeling. The house was once owned by the prominent Blauvelt family, whose genealogy in New Jersey dates to 1826.

Max Spann Real Estate & Auction Co., the national auctioneer, has scheduled the auction for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Woodcliff Lake Hilton at 200 Tice Blvd.

The 3,370-square-foot, four-bedroom home includes two fireplaces, a spacious living room and family room and hardwood floors. The kitchen has granite counter tops, GE Profile appliances, a wine rack and breakfast bar.

“Enjoy entertaining friends with appetizers on the back porch, then tour your custom-built wine cellar to select the perfect Merlot to match the evening,” said Max Spann, the president and CEO of his firm.

A master bedroom suite includes a deep walk-in closet, while the master bathroom boasts a jetted soaking tub with a walk-in tiled shower and double sink.

Originally listed at $849,000, the Blauvelt House is within walking distance of picturesque Pondside Park, which has a hiking path with fitness stations, children’s playground and ballfield. The Palisades Interstate Parkway is barely a 10-minute drive east (20 minutes to the GWB), while the Garden State Parkway is no more than 15 minutes west.
