COLTS NECK, NJ - We've long told you how Jon Stewart and his wife plan to convert a historic farm in the heart of Colts Neck horse country into an animal sanctuary. Now, a 48-acre farm across the street is going on the auction block in May.

The property is located at 381 County Road 537 in Colts Neck. The property is located right across the street from the historic Hockhockson Farm, where Stewart and his wife have plans to turn the farm into a 45-acre animal sanctuary. Stewart recently won approval from the Colts Neck Planning Board and is awaiting further approvals from various government agencies before the sanctuary can open, expected sometime in 2018.

Property previews have been scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 23 and Saturday, May 6. The auction is scheduled for 11 a.m. on May 17 on the site of the farm.

“This is the perfect opportunity for those who have dreamed of having an equestrian estate in one of New Jersey’s most sought-after addresses,” said Max Spann Jr, President of Max Spann Real Estate & Auction Co., which is conducting the auction.

The property features a country colonial home built in 1910 that is ready for remodeling, several barns, including a 38-stall barn with an apartment and ample hay storage, an indoor riding ring and eight paddocks with a water system.

“True equestrians will love this property because you can ride and train year round, no matter the weather, in the indoor arena,” Spann said.

The property is also located near the world-class Due Process Stables Golf Course and is minutes to the shore, outlet shopping and quick access for commuters to the Garden State Parkway or Rt. 18.
