The End of an Era: Libby's Lunch and the Historical Significance of Paterson Real Estate

In the bustling city of Paterson, New Jersey, lies a piece of history that has stood the test of time for over eight decades. Libby's Lunch located on McBride Avenue and across from the majestic Great Falls on the Passaic River, has been a hot dog lovers must visit since its inception in 1936.

First started by William Pappas, Libby's quickly became a beloved establishment among locals and visitors alike. Its strategic location near Paterson's textile mills and other industrial plants ensured a steady stream of workers looking for a quick bite. The eatery was famous for its Texas wiener and was cherished by generations of visitors as a meeting spot.

With the advent of COVID many establishments were irrevocably changed. Libby's Lunch closed its doors on July 31, 2020, marking the end of an era. However, as we find ourselves in a new era, opportunity beckons. The Great Falls District has undergone a dramatic renaissance with hundreds of millions of dollars being invested in the area. The recent renovation of Hinchliffe Stadium is the most visible example of this revitalization.

The property is being sold by order of the City of Paterson and is part of a multi-parcel auction on April 30th. Interested bidders can visit the property at previews on April 10th and April 17th from 12-2PM and review the property information package provided.
